Latin for in utmost good faith. It implies that the insured will disclose all relevant information to the insurer. The insured must also fulfill all obligations of the contract. http://thelawdictionary.org/relevant-information/

A document about yacht insurance has been added in the folder Lectures autumn 2015 under Course materials. The document is named miniIns. Hugo sends to follwing message regarding the document:

I am attaching the material which was the background to my Friday lecture, brought up-to-date by some footnotes. The Bassholmen case with a Norwegian bareboat charterer appears in footnote 2, and you will see that it was a little different to what I said in the lecture; the Supreme Court judgement concerned the situation when evidence had appeared concerning the vessel's grounding.

There should be added to the paper the importance of ADEQUACY and the ability of a member insurance to satisfy that requirement, as examples from the lecture should have shown.

The English law term concerning "just more than likely" that I was chasing at the end of the lecture was, of course, "preponderance of evidence".

Best greetings

Hugo
